Completed in January 1976, this spectacular Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera is an incredibly well-preserved example with just 8,235 miles on the odometer at the time of cataloging. According to the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity on file, this car left the factory finished in a Grand Prix White exterior over Cinnamon leather with a limited-slip differential, Comet Diamond light alloy Fuchs rims, Pirelli tires, and California emissions as optional equipment. Additionally, the interior was equipped with an air conditioning system and a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, as was standard equipment on United States-market cars—driving home the point that, while the Type 930 had supercar performance, it did not ask its owners to endure a bare-bones cockpit. Most importantly, the Porsche has retained its numbers matching 3.0-liter turbocharged flat-six and four-speed gearbox.

Delivered new to an individual in Santa Clara, California, the accompanying warranty and maintenance book contains stamps from the local Porsche/Audi dealer during first year of ownership noting a delivery inspection, an oil change, and 1,000-mile service. Remarkably, several invoices from the first owner are also present within the car’s files and include an air conditioning repair, an oil change, and the order of performance exhaust headers.

Prior to the acquisition by the White Collection in 2014, the car had been under the care of a meticulous individual who recorded a logbook of the mileage and travel purpose between 2007 and 2013; undoubtably, the current condition of the car is a result of many decades of diligent maintenance. In 2014, another series of invoices document a comprehensive service. General repairs were performed on the wiring, clutch linkage, and rear sway bar link caps. Additionally, the fluids were flushed, and new fuel pumps were installed. While residing in the White Collection, the car has been started and run to operating temperature on a monthly basis. This Turbo Carrera will be accompanied by its original owner’s books with pouch, tools, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a document binder.

Early 911 Turbos such as this are the most sought after by Porsche enthusiasts and collectors for their purity, rarity, and potency. Weighing just over 2,600 pounds, it is much lighter and less complex than its successors and offers tremendous performance. While this 930’s excellent original condition makes it an appealing candidate for continued preservation, its well-earned reputation as a driver’s car cannot be overlooked; over 45 years after leaving Stuttgart, this 930 Turbo will surely provide lots of thrills on the open road—while holding its own against much younger performance cars at the same time.
