When the Porsche 911 Turbo was introduced, the uniformity of opinion from the motoring journalists and road testers, while all were staggered by the performance, they also paid attention to the price tag, but agreed that this machine was worth every penny. Autocar wrote, “The Porsche Turbo is an outstandingly exciting motorcar, which adds yet another classic car to the achievements of the remarkable German manufacturer.”

A few years later, the Type 930-engined Porsche 911 Turbo had been further refined and this example represents the 1979 model year with the 3,299-cc, 300-hp horizontally opposed “boxer” six-cylinder turbo engine coupled with a four-speed manual transmission. This silver-toned beauty has a power sunroof amongst its factory standards that includes drilled and ventilated four-wheel disc brakes. Other amenities include forged alloy Fuchs wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport AS tires, air conditioning, power windows, rear wiper and rear window defogger, foglights, VDO instrumentation and the signature (and functional) whale tail.

Famed racing journalist Denis Jenkinson, writing for Motorsport reported, “I never thought the day would come when Ferraris, Maseratis, Lamborghinis and similar exotica would pale into insignificance in my book of motoring, but that day came with the Porsche Turbo.”
