The new-for-1955 winged, V-styled two-bar grille immediately set the 1955 Ford F-100 pickup apart from the preceding 1954 model. It this case, the “V” can signify the powerplant, as this restored and customized pickup runs with a 2001 General Motors 5.7-liter LS1 V-8 unit.
This custom is reported to have received an “exceptional frame- / body-off restoration from 2007-08 on a rust-free original body, bed and fenders.” The LS1 engine and associated componentry consist of a Street & Performance custom air cleaner, air conditioning bracket and oil pan, Sanderson headers with an E-coated equalizer crossover pipe, custom two-inch exhaust with free-flow mufflers, custom tailpipes that exit under the running boards, custom aluminum cross-flow radiator and overflow tank, reprogrammed GM factory computer, custom power braking unit (with proportion valve and pedal assembly), custom stainless steel 20-gallon fuel tank (under frame) and a factory GM frame-mount fuel pump and filter. The engine is backed by an automatic transmission and the differential is described as a “rare, heavy-duty eight-inch, 28-spline, 3.55:1 posi-traction that is all rebuilt with new gears, brake drums, driveshaft and U-joints.”
Among chassis highlights are a boxed Mustang II front suspension with sway bar, rear frame boxed and “C-D” at axle, center crossmember “C-D” for driveshaft, power disc brakes, power “rack,” and custom brackets with slider springs.
The exterior of the truck features Emerald basecoat/clearcoat poly finish utilized in 2007 by Nissan, American Racing Hopster wheels, Firestone Indy 500 Firehawk tires (staggered size, front-to-rear), third brake light under the rear window, all new bed wood and stainless securing bands, polished stainless steel bumpers, all new chromed emblems and trim and a No Limit forward-tilt hood.
The interior is also well-decked with a “filled dash” with stock glovebox door, custom “underdash unit with air vents,” hidden audio with a remote AM/FM radio, Stewart-Warner Wings gauges with custom insert, Flaming River tilt steering column and U-joints to the rack, custom floor-to-column mount, Dino custom steering wheel, Lokar gas pedal and cables, Old Air Products heater/air conditioner/defroster with electronic controls, factory adjustable seat, black simulated leather with black tweed insert presentation, matching door panels, smooth black headliner, black carpets, speakers in the kick panels, all-new tinted windows and windshield, new rubber seals, channels and weatherstripping and a Kwik Wire 22-circuit wiring harness.
