Colin Chapman founded Lotus with his design genius and driving ambition to build the greatest sports cars in the world and competing and winning at the highest levels of international motorsports. Formula One and Indy Car victories and championships were nearly commonplace through the extraordinary combination of technological innovation, engineering and performance that has always applied both on and off the track. Slip into the cockpit and experience the exhilaration of power and handling expected in a pure-bred sports car.
This stunning 2005 Lotus Elise is presented in the very desirable tone of Racing Green Metallic. The car is a one-owner example that was purchased new in Manhattan Beach, California. The current owner describes the Elise as in “like-new” condition, having been diligently looked after, always garage kept and never tracked. The mileage is original with the odometer reading less than 5,500 miles. The Elise has remained in stock configuration, with the exception of a dealer-installed Lotus Stage 2 exhaust; an upgrade which offers slightly more performance and a sportier exhaust note.
The Elise is powered by a 1.8-liter 190-hp inline four-cylinder fuel-injected engine which is paired to a six-speed manual transmission. The inviting tan leather interior is accented by black and silver surfaces for an all-business environment and offering passenger seating for two and a unique view of the road ahead. The leather-trimmed steering wheel has 'just the right feel' and the center-placed shifter is convenient and quick. According to the original window sticker; the Lotus interior features include air conditioning, central door locks with remote, tinted glass, seats with adjustable lumbar support, intermittent wipers, floor mats and starter button. The metallic paint was an optional charge upgrade, as was the optional hardtop (soft-top included). A custom car cover has protected the finishes and accompanies the car.
Presented in (arguably) the most fitting and attractive color scheme for this model, this Elise, with its low mileage, excellent care and single-owner history is surely one of the best examples currently available. One source states Lotus produced less than 3,400 examples of the Elise for the 2005 model year, making this a rare and collectible vehicle.
