This fully restored 1955 Jaguar XK 140MC Roadster comes complete with a long term ownership history. This XK 140 is the very desirable "MC" or Special Equipment model outfitted with a high compression cylinder head as used on the C-type racing cars, giving it the ability to produce 210 horsepower with a dual exhaust, a crankshaft damper, wire wheels, foglamps and windshield washers. The XK 140 was improved from the previous XK 120 with such upgrades as precise rack-and-pinion steering, improved brakes and cooling, plus more cabin comfort and legroom.

The date of production of this special car was January 26 of 1955 and the date of dispatch was March 5 of 1955. The original distributor was Max Hoffman in New York and the first owner was K. Bemant. The current owner purchased this Jaguar XK 140MC Open Two-Seater (OTS) from the owner who had this car for over 20 years (since 1993). Unfortunately, the previous history on this car, back to 1960, is unknown, but it is reported the same family owned this car from 1960 to 1992.

It is stated that the car has approximately 900 miles since it was body-off restored. It is reported with having the original engine and block. The four-speed transmission was upgraded with another correct four-speed transmission with the desirable electric overdrive. The car was completed in the gorgeous color combination of Red with Biscuit/Red leather (Duotone) interior.

Prior to the current owner’s purchase, it was sitting for about a year, so everything has been gone through on this great car. This work is documented in the form of invoices and receipts, as well as some pictures of the engine work done. Furthermore, there are pictures from the prior restoration of the car. This Jaguar XK runs and drives wonderful. The oil pressure is excellent as is the compression which is 1)-155-psi, 2)155-, 3)150-, 4)145-, 5)150- and 6)145-. The electric overdrive engages nicely in fourth gear. This car comes with the Heritage Certificate to confirm the original engine numbers with the chassis number and to also to confirm that it is indeed an original XK 140SE with the original C-type head. The exhaust note is fabulous; this vintage Jaguar is an absolute joy to drive and has plenty of power. It also comes complete with a tool roll, side curtains and spare.

Overall, this is a beautiful example of a rare Jaguar XK 140MC Roadster. This car was completed to be an exceptional show and driver car. Some consider the XK 140 Roadster to be the most beautiful of the XK series.
