The Lincoln-Zephyr V-12 for 1939 was considered to be more than another automobile. It was the new way to go in design, engineering and performance, and was thought to be the pattern for the future of automotive excellence. It was the only car of the period in the medium price field to have a V-12 powerplant and was as structurally sound as any car on the road.

The tasteful style of the Lincoln-Zephyr Convertible Coupe incorporated a long, horizontal hood, teardrop-shaped headlamps and a delicate grille. The car’s length and smoothness were accented by a gently tapered flowing roofline, along with removable rear fender skirts.

The 1939 Lincoln Zephyr Convertible Coupe offered here is one of 640 examples originally produced in 1939. It is finished in black and displays an older restoration that has recently been freshened. Exterior adornments include attractive brightwork, a driver’s side exterior rearview mirror, fender skirts and whitewall tires which surround body color steel wheels with chrome hubcaps and beauty rings. The interior is upholstered in burgundy and features wonderful Art Deco instrumentation, as well as an attractive “banjo” steering wheel. This 1939 Lincoln-Zephyr Convertible Coupe is from the collection of the late Claude Mick, and it presents a number of opportunities for its next owner, including an abundance of top-down touring pleasure. It proudly remains a design icon of the 1930s and a very fine example of one of the most influential American automobiles.
