In 1941, the entire Hudson lineup received a considerable redesign with all models growing in size. Only the front fender sheet metal remained the same, while wheelbases increased by three inches and roof lines receded by two inches thanks to a flatter profile. The horizontal grill design carried over from the previous year but featured nine bars rather than seven. The 1941 model-year cars are also easily identifiable thanks to quarter-panel-mounted taillamps. Mechanically, a new three-speed synchromesh transmission provided increased refinement.
The Series 10T and 10P, marketed as the Traveler and Six Deluxe, represented the marque’s entry-level offerings for the year and shared a chassis, engine, and 116-inch wheelbase. Under the hood, a 175 cubic-inch L-head inline six-cylinder engine provided 92 horsepower to the rear wheels. A range of body styles was offered, including coupes, sedans, and convertibles.
This Hudson Series 10T Traveler Sedan was acquired by the current owner in 1990 and is said to have been restored to a high standard throughout 2004 and 2005. Fifteen years later, the work has stood the test of time and the car presents beautifully in its two-tone Silver Green over Pine Green paint. The well-appointed interior upholstered in brown and tan fabric features several optional extras, including a Weathermaster heater, a clock, a spotlight, and a radio.
This beautifully presented Hudson is a fine example from a select group of automobiles produced just before American automakers were forced to halt production ahead of World War II, making it among the last of a bygone era and a welcome addition to any collection.
