150 bhp, 346 cu. in. overhead-valve V-8 engine, three-speed manual transmission, independent coil-spring front suspension, rear semi-elliptical leaf-spring suspension, and four-wheel hydraulic power-assisted drum brakes. Wheelbase: 129 in.

After World War II, Cadillac, like most manufacturers, returned to production with a modified version of its 1942 designs and engineering. This basic formula would remain in production, with some detail changes, until 1947, and it was incredibly popular with buyers for its combination of power and luxury. It is a testament to the quality of these cars that they are among the latest automobiles recognized as Full Classics by the Classic Car Club of America. They combine modern reliability and drivability with the same careful quality of hand construction that had been seen on earlier V-12 and V-16 models. Accordingly, few automobiles are as popular for the CCCA member who wants to relax on a CARavan.

The car offered here is recorded by its original build sheet, a copy of which is on file, as having been originally delivered through Cadillac’s Chicago branch. It has since received a no-expense-spared, frame-off restoration, in which, according to the owner, every nut and bolt has been replaced. The body was refinished in the year-correct color of Lotus Cream, with a light brown leather interior with cloth accents and a black convertible top. Options and accessories found on the car are numerous and include an AM radio, back-up lights, a heater, fender skirts, a power top and windows, “sombrero” hubcaps, and wide whitewall tires. Importantly, the car is also fitted with a three-speed manual transmission, which is a feature that is original to this car and highly uncommon among 1947 Cadillacs.

This beautiful Cadillac is an excellent choice for CCCA CARavans or virtually any other tour that its new owner would wish to undertake, and it is deserving of a fine new home.
