Like the previous season’s F310B, the F300 was highly competitive and reliable, but could not quite match McLaren’s MP4/13. Despite this, Michael Schumacher battled his way to 2nd place in the World Championship standings behind Mika Häkkinen. Ferrari was also the runner-up in the Constructors’ Championship.
