Immensely proud of its legendary history, Ford Motor Company created the Ford GT to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary. It appeared during a wave of both fresh thinking and retro-inspired design that saw several nameplates reappear in their product line. The GT40 concept was shown at the North American International Auto Show in 2002, debuting with a look and a name that paid tribute to the company’s legendary 24-Hours-of-Le-Mans-winning GT40 race car of four decades prior.

By the end of 2004, actual production had begun on this mid-engined, 43-inch-tall supercar, which was by then called simply the GT. Production of each Ford GT involved multiple facilities, with each car starting life in Ohio and being completed at Ford’s own SVT facility in Michigan. At its heart was Ford’s all-aluminum 5.4-liter, V-8 engine equipped with a Lysholm twin-screw supercharger, capable of producing 550 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. A top speed of 205 mph and a 0–60 sprint of 3.3 seconds elevated the GT into the same echelon as other period supercars such as the Porsche Carrera GT and the Mercedes-McLaren SLR. Just over 4,000 cars were built from 2004 to 2006, with 2,022 being completed for the 2005 model year.

This Ford GT left the factory finished in Centennial white with blue stripes over black leather. It is a fully equipped “four option” car, desirably specified with all available factory options, including polished BBS forged aluminum wheels, red painted brake calipers, an upgraded McIntosh stereo system, and racing stripes. Upon completion at Ford’s Wixom plant, the GT was shipped via rail to the West Coast, where it was delivered to Island Ford of Staten Island, New York. Once sold, the vehicle has benefitted from single ownership in the state of Pennsylvania since it was new.

Today, the GT has accumulated just 5,605 miles from new at the time of cataloguing. It is accompanied by a window sticker, purchase documents, invoices, manuals, three-year service summary, recall information, a transit permit, and a CARFAX report. With its stunning, retro-inspired design and breathtaking power, the Ford GT has been a highly sought-after model since its release. This low-mileage example, with its rare exterior finish, is an excellent opportunity to own a model which Ford referred to in-period as “The Pace Car for an Entire Company.”
