Few objects, let alone automobiles, represent the prosperity of the post-war era with more flash than the 1957-58 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham. At over $13,000 new, it was a massive, tech-laden show car available in showrooms. Its GM Motorama-derived features included suicide-style doors, a stainless steel roof, and the world’s first air suspension. With an equipment list that reads like a luxury car today, it lacks nothing: dual heaters, a power-adjustable front seat, automatic head lamps, a power trunklid, and even polarized sun visors were included.
The Cadillac Eldorado Brougham’s exceptional level of opulence remains immediately visible in the first year example offered here. Finished in blue-gray with correct hubcaps and thin whitewall tires, it is truly eye-catching. The two-tone grey interior exhibits limited signs of use and it remains fitted with luxurious features including the Autronic Eye, which automatically dims the high beams.
