In 1985 Porsche released a turbocharged variant of the 944. The increase in power brought the 944’s performance close to that of the 911. Through the years numerous automotive professionals have claimed the 944 is one of the most balanced sports cars. Porsche produced the 944 through the 1991 model year at which point it was replaced by the 968.
