The normally-aspirated engineering of the 2015 Shelby GT 350 50th Anniversary is not intended to offend those who lean towards the turbo or supercharged engine as their powerplant of choice; it’s just that this car is not in need of this form of power assist. The 5.2-liter V-8 engine follows the tradition of high RPM supercar engines in a factory production Ford. Each engine is hand-built for maximum precision and being able to hit the 8,250-rpm redline on an everyday basis. The powerplant is unlike any in the Mustang stable with a 180-degree flat-plane crankshaft and purpose-engineered components working in concert to create a rev-happy 526 horsepower at 7,500-rpm and plenty of torque. The engine is backed by a Tremec six-speed manual transmission and independent rear suspension equipped with Torsen limited slip differential with 3.73:1 gearing.
The GT 350 was engineered from the outset for not only straight-line blasts, but also to conquer the world’s race tracks. Aerodynamics walk the balance between downforce and drag, while Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on alloy wheels stand ready to deliver the grip while attacking the corner apexes.
This particular Shelby GT 350 50th Anniversary model is reported as number 106 from the 137 examples that were produced in 2015. This modern take on the iconic Ford Mustang is one of only 50 produced with the Technology Package, which is not limited to the interior comfort and connectivity. Along with the proven Ford SYNC and seven-speaker audio package is MagnaRide damping, heavy-duty springs and an integrated driver control (IDC) system. The suspension is engineered for road control and Brembo calipers put the clamps down on massive cross-drilled and vented rotors on the four-wheel disc brakes. Additional, it is forwarded that this car is the only example with the Technology Package, stripe delete and black roof – rare indeed.
The car is also fitted with many luxury-style conveniences and power functions; additionally there is factory paperwork and a six year 75,000 mile extended warranty. Currently, this rarely driven performance machine has approximately 1,700 actual miles and is ready to perform to your level of driving talent.
