The Chevrolet Corvair of 1966 offered superb handling, crisp steering, roadability and all the fun that one could imagine behind the wheel. It was America’s only rear-engine design and had fully independent suspension, four available engines and two transmission choices.

In 1966 it is reported that Chevrolet built a total of 103,743 Corvairs in various offered models; from this rather substantial figure, only 3,142 examples are said to be the rare Corsa Convertible as shown here.

This stunning Corsa went to the Corvair Nationals in Lexington, Kentucky (no year specified) and was awarded Gold/Senior honors with 95.73 points out of 100 points available. This Corsa features the top of the 1966 Corvair engine offerings; the 164-cid 180-hp flat six-cylinder turbocharged engine, in this case paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a luggage rack, Corsa badging, tinted windshield, AM/FM radio, front and rear bumper guards, deluxe seat belts and telescoping steering wheel with quick-steer option. It also features a day and night rearview mirror, engine and trunk compartment lights, door edge guards, Posi-traction rear axle, “mag”-style wheel covers, bucket seats with headrests, tissue dispenser and four-way flashers. With all these accessories and show-quality pedigree, this Corvair Corsa Convertible offers nearly everything but the option of leaving you bored.
