In a time when mankind was first reaching space in rocketships that captured the imagination of both young and old; Chevrolet boasted of having something that was out of this world since 1953. It carried two people in sporty comfort at any distance one cared to name; always delivering its passengers amazed and excited. Chevrolet’s brand of rocketship in 1962 was called Corvette.

Many over the years have described their first run in a Corvette as much more than just a drive; for some it is an emotional experience. Pick your favorite section of road, fasten your seatbelt and apply your right foot to the “loud button” and in about a quarter-mile you will leave all of your worries, along with any other cars of the era, far behind. Those in charge of Corvette development were committed to making the car adept on every thoroughfare in America; from one lane of dirt to a 12-lane superhighway, the road is the Corvette’s eminent domain. In 1962 the Corvette was the ultimate combination of performance, handling and sports car-style luxury that had been carefully honed since its inception.

We are pleased to offer this 1962 Ermine White with red example that is documented with Bloomington Gold Certification. Model year 1962 saw the end to the two-tone paint option and the chromed trim detail on the perimeter of the coves had been deleted. The heater/defroster unit was now standard equipment, as was seatbelts. The 1962 Corvette also marked the last year for an external trunk until it was reintroduced in 1998 with the C5. Repainted early in 2016; this cosmetically restored car is one of 14,531 Corvettes built in 1962 and is one of 1,532 that came with the optional Powerglide automatic transmission that cost $199.10 when new. The 327-cid, 250-hp V-8 engine, radio, white vinyl soft-top, factory wheel covers and whitewall tires help complete the story.

Some researchers might call it “sensory emotional gratification,” we call it driving a Corvette.
