A joint venture between Porsche and Volkswagen, the 914 was intended to replace the four-cylinder 912, but never quite hit the mark with Porsche enthusiasts. A mid-engine design, it was available with either a Volkswagen 1,679-cc four-cylinder or a Porsche two-liter six-cylinder.
This four-cylinder 914/4 is painted bright red with black exterior trim elements and interior. A cosmetic restoration included fresh paint. The 914/4 has five-spoke alloy wheels, removable targa roof section, pop-up headlights, Porsche side stripes with script, bucket seats and center console. The transmission is a manual and contributes greatly to the pure fun of driving this car. Although not to everyone’s taste, as with many other cars, the 914 has a reputation for fun. This one is no exception.
