When Hans Gustav Rohr was in charge of the Mercedes-Benz Passenger Car Development Department for the two years prior to his death is 1937, he was responsible for the advancement of the W153 series of automobiles. First seen by the public in early 1939, the Type 230 used a much more modern body and a redesigned chassis.

Offered here is a lovely 1939 Mercedes-Benz 230 that is finished with a gorgeous color combination of red and black. The car is fitted with a chrome radiator shell, bumpers and whitewall tires wrapped around two-tone painted wheels with center caps. Under the bonnet is an inline six-cylinder that is matched to a floor-shifted manual transmission.

The splendid red interior of this saloon is designed with individual front seats and a rear bench seat. The carpet is black with red piping to match the seats and door panels that also display tidy wood trim elements. The wood trimmed dash is decorated with VDO gauges, glove compartment and a clock. Sources indicate that 4,262 examples of this model were constructed during its run from 1938 to 1943.
