In Italian, Vespa means "wasp." The Vespa 400 is a rear-engined microcar, produced by ACMA (Ateliers de construction de motocycles et d'automobiles) Fourchambault, France, from 1957 to 1961 to the designs of the Italian Piaggio company.
This Vespa 400 Coupe is presented in orange with a multi-toned interior. It has a 24-cid inline two-cylinder engine with a three-speed manual transmission. The engine was completely rebuilt with new pistons and is much more reliable than original. The car weighs only 1,367 pounds and the vehicle appears to be in solid overall condition. The black vinyl top is retractable to an open position and the painted steel wheels with caps have been fitted with whitewall tires. It was recently featured in the January 2015 issue of Hemming's Sports and Exotics which discussed the story of its orange color. Reported to attract attention whenever it is taken out, the owner recalls meeting the two sons of a Vespa dealer who remarked at how original the car was.
