Shelby Automobiles celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Shelby GT 500 Mustang with a limited-edition package with upgraded components. Legendary racecar driver and Cobra creator Carroll Shelby was at the helm for the introduction of Shelby GT 500 40th Anniversary packages that includes distinct visual elements and a boost to performance.

The 40th Anniversary Limited Edition packages were installed at Shelby Americans modification center. Outside components include carbon fiber lower front fascia splitter and mirror covers, aluminum hood grille inserts, deck lid Shelby letter kit, sequential tail lamps, front and rear brake duct kits, Anniversary stripe package for convertible models such as this and various 40th Anniversary badging including side, grille and trunk badges.

In the cockpit there is a consecutively numbered dash plaque, special 40th Anniversary Shelby door sill plates with consecutive numbers, floor mats, Shelby snake door handles; center dash-mounted gauge cluster with three Shelby/AutoMeter carbon fiber gauges for boost, oil and fuel pressure, 40th Anniversary armrest cover and for convertibles a light bar with solenoid activated light system.

The engine bay contains an impressive 5.4-liter DOHC supercharged and intercooled V-8 engine and receives a consecutive number plate confirming the packages provenance and installation from Shelby American and special billet aluminum caps and covers for power steering, radiator, brake master cylinder, windshield washer fluid bottle and oil dipstick.

This is car number 170 and it is reported that this machine runs with the same equipment as the renowned Super Snake. With approximately 3,000 miles, this is an exceptional example of a remarkable car.
