The 164 was the first Alfa Romeo to feature general use of computer aided design for calculating structural stresses, resulting in a quite rigid, but still comparatively lightweight body. The 164 was based on the Type Four platform and runs with a transverse-mounted V-6 engine that is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. The car is presented in white with black trim elements and a tan interior. Alloy wheels and the owner’s manual and packet accompany the 164L.
