A rare hand-built Italian exotic that was built in Modena, Italy; this 2001 Qvale Mangusta is #186 of 284 ever produced. The 2001 Qvale Mangusta continues the tradition of luxury Italian sports cars by delivering performance, innovation and exclusivity in a package that evokes the best in Italian styling and design.

Famed Lamborghini designer Marcello Gandini, who penned the Countach and Diablo, created the Mangusta's arresting stance and unique styling. The chassis is built by legendary Formula One designer Enrique Scalabroni. The Mangusta was originally conceived by auto legend Alejandro DeTomaso who's previous Pantera is widely known and appreciated. The Mangusta is powered by a Ford 4.6-liter 32-valve V-8 pushing 320-hp, this unit is mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

Equipped with a three-position top; the Mangusta transitions from coupe to targa to full convertible in two easy steps. Ten thousand dollars in upgrades were launched with the 2001 model year. Technical features include multi-point sequential electronic fuel injection, tuned length cast aluminum intake manifold, double overhead cams, coil-on-plug ignition, twin throttle body, hydraulic limited-slip rear differential, fully independent suspension with upper and lower wishbones, coil springs and anti-roll bars.

The Qvale offers many exciting features such as cast-alloy wheels, driver and passenger airbags, all leather interior with articulated sport seats, three-way power top, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, adjustable steering column, courtesy lighting, centralized locking system and anti-theft alarm.

In 2004, Michael Frank of Forbes.com wrote: "Ferrari sold 1,200 cars in the United States last year, a near record annual sales figure for the exotic Italian carmaker. That explains why Ferraris continue to be exceedingly rare automobiles, and this level or rarity, should you be lucky enough to own one, also explains why other drivers gawk... Then again, if you were one of only 200 buyers last year who bought the Qvale Mangusta, you could bet both the purchase price and the value of your mortgage on the fact that other drivers will chase you to the gas station and tailgate you on the highway, just trying to get a closer look at this rarer-than-a-Ferrari street rod."
