In series production since 1949, the Porsche 356 evolved from a Spartan sports car powered by a timid engine into a superbly engineered and well-executed performance car. Even so, its shortcomings were apparent even to Porsche, and by the early 1960s, plans were in the works to take the next step. The second generation of the Porsche family went to work on the challenge, with Ferdinand Porsche on the chassis and body and his cousin Ferdinand Piech on the engine. The new generation Porsche was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963, and entered production in 1964 as the 911.

The 1977 911S Targa offered here is a very presentable example accompanied with a Porsche factory Certificate of Authenticity. Featured in black over black, it has the six-cylinder engine rated at 157 horsepower. The drivetrain is correct for the car and is one of 2,747 911S Targas produced. This fine example has the rare V21 package. It has black trim instead of chrome, Koni shocks instead of Boge, sports seats, rear spoiler, chrome elements in matte, black headlight rings and white foglights. This is a low mile example that will be a pleasure to enjoy on the road.
