  • One of a mere 500 examples produced

  • Powered by a 666 brake horsepower, twin-turbocharged, dry sump 3.8-litre V-8 mated to a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission with paddle shift

A masterclass in distilling on-track learnings from one of the best motorsport outfits in the business, the 675LT was based on the track-honed 650S that had been campaigned in GT3 championships from 2015. Utilising the 650’s already impressive carbon-fibre tub and making it lighter still, the 675LT added active aerodynamics that provided over 40 per cent more downforce than any other Super Series model. Furthermore, the enhanced version of the “M838TL” twin-turbocharged V-8 engine was uprated to produce a potent 666 brake horsepower.

Always eager to embrace its history, the “LT” part of the model’s name is a deliberate nod to the legendary Le Mans-winning McLaren F1 GTR Longtail, reviving nomenclature not seen on any McLaren for close to 20 years. The 675LT felt a deserving fit given its track-focussed carbon-ceramic brakes, lightweight forged wheels, and active aerodynamics, which all contribute towards a dry weight of just 1,230 kilograms.

The 675LT coupé sold out immediately after launch—and just a year after that, McLaren announced the open-topped Spider version. It offered the same intoxicatingly engaging driving experience and performance, with the benefit of the open-air driving experience exuding elegance and style. A modest 40 kilogram weight penalty was shrugged away with ease given the car’s near identical performance figures to its coupé sibling: 0-100 km/h is taken care of in a blistering 2.9 seconds, 200 km/h arrives in just 8.1 seconds, and the 675LT Spider will continue accelerating right up to a remarkable top speed of 326 km/h.

This 2016 675LT Spider is one of just 500 examples produced, finished in the tasteful hue of Supernova Silver over a red and black leather and Alcantara-trimmed interior, accented by red contrast stitching, red seatbelts, a carbon-fibre and Alcantara-trimmed three-spoke steering wheel, and carbon-fibre gear selector paddles. The McLaren is powered by a potent 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V-8 mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

This McLaren features optional exposed carbon fibre trim on the exterior, including side skirts, side air intakes, door mirrors, rear diffuser and carbon-fibre accented McLaren badges. Additional features include carbon fibre engine bay trim, red brake discs, and carbon ceramic brake discs, as well as its ultra-lightweight five-spoke forged wheels. This 675LT Spider shows just 175 kilometres on its odometer at the time of cataloguing.

The 675LT Spider is already a rare car, but this car’s incredible specification makes it stand out much more against its peers. Needless to say, this would be a stand-out addition to any collection of modern supercars.
