  • A well-optioned example, complete with air conditioning and an automatic transmission
  • Equipped with both soft and “pagoda” hard tops

170 hp, 2,778 cc inline overhead cam six-cylinder engine, four-speed automatic transmission, independent front and rear coil spring suspension, and power-assisted hydraulic disc brakes. Wheelbase: 94.5 in.

The 280 SL was offered in America through 1971, when it was replaced by a newer SL series that was more focused on size and luxury than youthful appeal. This example is finished in Onyx Black with a tan leather interior, which makes it truly stand out. An attractive example of the pagoda-roofed cars; it is still accompanied by its factory hardtop.

Well-equipped with an automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, and a Becker radio, the entire car has been given a very recent, thorough detailing throughout. The passenger compartment is tidy, while the presentable engine bay shows little deviation from original. This SL has new, period-correct whitewall tires mounted on all four corners, with a proper spare located in the trunk. Aside from the professional detailing work, the paint has been masterfully attended to where needed, resulting in a fresh presentation. Like other SL models of the day, this is one that can be enjoyed on the road on a daily basis and look just as good in the garage.
