Chevrolet introduced the Corvette in 1953 at the New York Auto Show. As a show car for the Motorama display, the new car was so popular that GM executives decided to make the car a reality. Chevrolet produced only 300 examples of the 1953 Corvette. All were offered in roadster form completed in Polo White with a Red interior and powered by Chevrolet’s Blue Flame six-cylinder engine. In 1954, production increased and additional colors were made available. In 1955, due in large part to slow 1954 sales, Chevrolet chose to only produce 700 Corvettes. Nineteen fifty-five marked a special year for the Corvette as it was the first time a V-8 was offered. A total of 693 Corvettes were equipped the V-8 in 1955.
This gorgeous 1955 Chevrolet Corvette has benefitted from a frame-off restoration. Presented in white with a beige convertible top; the high standard of work on this Corvette’s restoration is evident with the car having won an NCRS Top Flight award. This car is powered by a 265-cid, 195-hp “Turbo-Fire” V-8 engine which is paired to a floor-mounted two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. The car rides on whitewall tires which are mounted on red steel wheels with factory wheel covers. The interior is completed in red featuring bucket seats. This 1955 Chevrolet Corvette is reported to be a concours-quality example and only driven 500-miles since restoration. Included with the car are two sets of wheels.
