Oldsmobile introduced the third generation of their 98 model in 1948. For the 1953 model year, the 98 featured a padded dash, windshield washers and a deluxe steering wheel with horn ring. This was all in addition to having all items from lower cars as standard equipment. The car was offered in four body types, the second rarest of which was the two-door convertible which Oldsmobile made 7,521 examples of in 1953.

This 1953 Oldsmobile 98 Convertible is presented in white with a blue convertible top. This car has benefitted from a body-off rotisserie (nut-and-bolt) restoration to factory correct specifications; a process which took five years to complete. The car is powered by a rebuilt 303-cid, 165-hp engine which is paired to a three-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Power equipment on the car includes windows, steering and brakes.

The interior is completed in a two-tone blue featuring a radio. All mechanical parts, wiring, brake lines and weather stripping were replaced or restored to correct specifications. The bumpers and other chrome parts were stripped and re-chromed. All stainless trim pieces were re-polished. The car rides on new wide whitewall tires, brakes and suspension. It’s reported that since the completion of the restoration the car has been driven 17-miles.
