The second generation Corvette was introduced in 1963. Sometimes referred to as the C2 generation, the new Corvette retained the fiberglass body construction from the previous model, and featured an all new design, referred to as the Sting Ray. Nineteen sixty-six marked the first year the Corvette was offered with a 427-cid V-8 engine. Cars equipped with these larger engines received a bubble hood to accommodate the big-block. The second generation Corvette was produced through 1967. Corvettes with the 427-cid V-8 engine are sought-after by collectors.
