The Silver Cloud III, produced from late 1962 through October 1965, was the final Rolls-Royce model with separate body-and-chassis construction suitable for the finest custom coachwork. The rare alloy-bodied examples by Mulliner Park Ward remain among the most desirable of all postwar Rolls-Royce models. Out of total Silver Cloud III production of 2,809 chassis, 2,555 had the 123-inch wheelbase, and of those, just 328 were fitted with coachbuilt bodies, including the Mulliner Park Ward Design 2041 coupe offered here, one of only about 100 produced. Its clean and elegant styling carries a particularly rakish profile with attractively angled wheel arches, straight-through fender lines, smooth slab sides and distinctively angled quad headlamps. When new, these magnificent automobiles carried a sizable price tag of $26,500, plus the cost of optional accessories.

Mechanical advancements for the Silver Cloud III included a compression increase to 9.0:1 for the aluminum block and head, enlarged carburetors and a corresponding output boost of some 20 estimated horsepower. The Silver Cloud III also had such standard features as a four-speed automatic gearbox, power-assisted brakes, a radio and a heater.

This Mulliner Park Ward Coupe reportedly was the show car for Mulliner Park Ward at the Los Angeles Auto show and was purchased new by Ross Bagdasarian, creator of Alvin and the Chipmunks. Bagdasarian owned the car until his death in 1972 and it remained in his family for many more years. His family eventually sold it to a Southern California collector and it was part of his collection until 2005. Of the 100 cars built by Mulliner Park Ward, only about 20 of them are believed to have a sunroof and even less with left-hand drive. Additionally, this Silver Cloud has air conditioning which makes it pleasant to drive, even on warm days.

This example presents well in burgundy with its correct parchment leather interior and electric sunroof. It is in the ideal condition for an owner looking for a fun classic that can be driven and enjoyed.
