Powered by the legendary, hand-built Mercedes-Benz M-100 V-8 originally built for the 600 Grosser, the 6.9 does not disappoint. For the 450SEL, Mercedes-Benz enlarged the M100 V-8 from 6.3- to 6.9-liters, making 250-hp for the North American model. Almost nothing at the time could compete with its perfect blend of luxury and performance.

The original window sticker of this example shows that it had a list price of over $51,000 in 1979 and was purchased by William M. Keck at Downtown LA Motors. The original owner of this example additionally purchased another identical 6.9, also with Milan Brown Metallic paint and Bamboo interior, and today this 6.9 is only with its second owner. Features on this example include climate control, trunk carpets, tinted glass, an automatic antenna with selective height adjustment, light alloy wheels, rear headrests, fully adjustable front bucket seats and a sunroof. The odometer currently displays 76,000 miles which is supported by accompanying service records.

This example is in superb condition. It remains nearly original and retains its Becker Mexico radio, spare tire, jack, owner’s manual and all other factory literature. The interior shows little to no wear and is in overall stunning condition. The advanced hydropneumatic self-leveling suspension keeps the car level and the M100 engine runs very well. Few 6.9s have been as well-maintained as this example. From new, this 6.9 has been a well-cared-for Southern California car and almost none are in comparable condition today.
