With only 52 horsepower and a top speed of less than 90-mph, the Fiat 850 Sport Spider was not a fast or a technologically innovative car, but it was a fun, lovable sports car with a distinctive design by Bertone. Much of the car was based on the successful Fiat 600 but its purpose was drastically different. Unlike most engines, the engine of the 850 ran counter clockwise. In 1968, the car was redesigned with headlights without Plexiglas covers giving it a “frogeye” look and a 903-cc engine.

An enthusiast in Southern California owned this 850 Spider for many years and restored the body, paint, seats, and re-chromed the brightwork when necessary. A mechanical refreshing including a carburetor rebuild, tune up, and other regular service was recently completed. The hydraulic system, suspension, fuel system, and electrical system were gone through as well to ensure their functionality and other cosmetic details were dealt with. The consignor powder coated the wheels, freshened up the interior, and restored the convertible top giving it a pleasurable overall driving experience.
