The Volvo 1800ES Sport Wagons were designed by Volvo’s Jan Wilsgaard and only enjoyed a two-year production run. Often referred to as the ‘Shooting-Brake’ due to their unique all glass rear hatch, the car was a powerful addition to Volvo’s lineup. The 2.0-liter, four-cylinder (B20F) engine is a well-torqued powerplant that provides more than ample fuel economy. This particular car is a first year, 1972 model that most recently received a period correct two-stage Glasurit “Light Blue Metallic” paint finish which shows beautifully. Equipped with the M41 four-speed manual transmission it has benefitted from over $11,000 in recent mechanical restoration work. The Volvo is complete with the original owner’s manual and window sticker further adding to its desirability. As of late these cars have been escalating in value and most recently a similar example sold at auction for over $90,000, making the subject car offered here a highly affordable alternative on the cusp of future collectability.
