The Ferrari 328 was released in 1986 as the successor to the Ferrari 308. Styling for the 328 was updated from the 308 to include integrated front and rear bumpers, a more modern 288 GTO inspired interior, and an overall softening of the sharp lines of the 308. Displacement rose from 2,926-cc to 3,185-cc and power significantly increased. The cooling problem faced by many 308s was solved with the introduction of the 328.
The Ferrari 308 was the best-selling Ferrari ever at the time with over 12,000 sold and the 328 was a welcome introduction after the previous model’s 10 year production run. A total of 7,412 were sold over four years of production, 6,068 of those being the GTS. The 328 is the last Ferrari to not have the sticky interior plastic problem that many later models have, and it is one of the last cars in which Enzo had direct involvement with. The interior is done in Connelly hides with vinyl on the dash which prevents the expensive leather shrinking problem some successor models have. Changing the belts and performing major services on the car is much less costly and time consuming than other mid-engined Ferraris due to the fact that the engine does not need to be removed for servicing.
This 328 GTS is an early 1988 car and presents very well. Mid-way through 1988, Ferrari changed the wheels from a concave design to a convex design. This example has the more visually pleasing and desirable concave wheels. The 3.2-liter V-8 runs as expected and the five-speed transmission shifts very smoothly. The Connolly leather interior is very nice and the engine bay is factory correct with all its correct stickers and paint finishes. Since new, this car has only been driven 21,339 miles and is ready for its next owner to use and enjoy.
