This Bill Layman-built custom Mercury has been exquisitely built, and brings with it a great history and provenance. It has been featured in two magazines, Rodders Journal and an article in Custom Rodder.
The engine is a Cadillac 331-cid V-8 fueled by six Stromberg 97 carburetors. The 1954 Cadillac Hydra-Matic transmission has been fitted with a hydro-shift conversion. The headlights have been “frenched” using the stock rims. The original hood scoop was made functional and door handles have been shaved. The exterior is painted in turquoise, with a matching two-tone turquoise and white interior with front and rear passenger bench seats, all riding on wide whitewall tires.
