Some might go as far as to say that the Mercedes-Benz 280SL was the end of an era for the German automaker. The craftsmanship and unique ‘Pagoda’ body style was the last model of this desirable roadster. The 280SL was built on the same chassis as the beloved 250SL and the 230SL. It quickly became the flagship roadster and one of the most enjoyed two-seaters on the road. Under the hood is a 2.8-liter straight six-cylinder engine that delivers 170 horsepower. The responsive acceleration suits this car for a classics rally. If you’re looking for a weekend cruiser, the automatic transmission makes it wonderfully relaxing to drive.

This particular model has been exceptionally maintained and includes a recently restored matching hardtop complemented with a matching German soft-top as well. The car has recently gone through a mechanical and cosmetic restoration, including a complete vehicle repaint, new rubber with brightwork re-plated as needed. During the mechanical services the head was removed, machined, new valves have been installed, a tune-up was performed with all major components attended to. The smooth Tobacco Brown complements the cognac interior delightfully. The roadster’s wood trim has been handsomely restored to a beautiful finish. The comfortable and elegant interior makes this 280 SL alluring and desirable to drive. In every way possible, this classic roadster is ready to deliver an exceptional driving experience in the fine Grand Touring tradition that Mercedes-Benz is known to offer.
