The McLaren 12C Spider offered here was specified by its original owner as “Bespoke Project 8” through McLaren Special Operations (MSO), a collaboration between McLaren and its clients. Expanded shortly after introduction of the MP4-12C coupe, this program permits the completion of fully one-off, bespoke projects.

Designed to match the color scheme of both the original owner’s McLaren F1 and his MP4-12C coupe, the Spider was finished in Pearl White Elite paint with full leather interior in two-tone white and red, stitched in Harissa Red; front splitter, engine covers, side intake, wheel arches, diffuser, steering wheel personalized sill panels, and seat backs all in red carbon fiber, tinted to match; branded floor mats; and ceramic brakes with, naturally, red calipers. Even the key fob was finished in the “Bespoke Project 8” livery, down to the use of red carbon fiber!

Significantly, the car was also specified from the factory with the Stealth Pack features of darkened exhaust pipes and wing supports, as well as super-lightweight forged wheels and sports exhaust. It is clear that great attention to detail went into the consideration of every feature, to not only make the car the unique version of its purchaser but to emphasize its performance above all else. Unsurprisingly the Spider’s build information indicates that the final total price from McLaren Newport Beach of Costa Mesa, California, was $352,160, with the options alone accounting for $83,910—or 30% of the base MSRP!

Preserved since new with only occasional use on the road, this very special Spider recorded fewer than 1,665 miles at the time of cataloguing, and thus remains essentially pristine with all of its finishes in nearly showroom condition. Accompanied by the aforementioned build information sheet, it is almost certainly one of the most uniquely specified examples of this very special, exciting model, worthy of selection by any astute McLaren enthusiast.
