After meeting its auto racing homologation requirements for the 2.7 Carrera RS, Porsche continued with a production version of the vaunted 911 Carrera line. While these cars retained much of the Carrera’s mechanical foundation, they also sported all the creature comforts one would expect from a luxury sports car. Strict United States emissions requirements saw the mechanical fuel-injection used in the rest of the world replaced with a more subdued Bosch K-Jetronic CIS (continuous fuel injection) system, which made the 2.7-liter flat-six good for 173 horsepower.

The 2.7 Carrera offered here was completed in April 1975 and finished as it is presented today in stunning Gulf Blue (J9) over black partial leather (16) trim. Destined for the United States market, the car was factory built with US equipment, air conditioning, an electric sliding sunroof, and Dunlop tires. Its original warranty and maintenance record documents the car as first sold via De Maria Porsche Audi of Miami, Florida to Paul Ships Jr. of Coral Gables on 25 September 1975. Ships used his new Porsche extensively, with entries to the maintenance record showing he returned to De Maria Porsche on multiple occasions for time and mileage servicing.

In 2021, the car was treated to a full engine rebuild by Frank Allers Autosport of North Vancouver, British Columbia. Work is said to have included new pistons, camshafts, main and rod bearings, timing chains, overhauling the oil-cooling system, SSI stainless-steel heat exchangers, and a Dansk muffler. Paint meter readings taken across the body show a high degree of consistency, indicating factory applied paint on the major body panels. A Porsche Production Specification report, owner’s manual and warranty booklet with entries, service records, and tool kit accompany the sale.

Finished in one of the decade’s most aggressive color and graphics packages, this stunning Gulf Blue 911 Carrera ensures thrills for both its driver and those fortunate enough to experience it in action.
