Chrysler’s Super Stock competition package, tailored to the regulations of the National Hot Rod Association class of the same name, was available for both Dodges and Plymouths in the mid-1960s. These cars were built stripped of excess weight, with almost no options, accessories, or comfort and convenience touches, and boasted the most powerful available engine and transmission combinations. The engines themselves were specially built to higher tolerances, with forged pistons and modified manifolds, special carburetor jetting, and a transistorized ignition with special wiring. On automatic transmission cars, the TorqueFlite was modified for manual shifting.

At least 50 cars had to be built to the Super Stock configuration for NHRA homologation. As a result, 55 Plymouth Belvedere IIs and 55 Dodge Coronets were so manufactured.

The 1967 Belvedere offered here is documented by MoPar historian and registrar Galen Govier as scheduled for production at Lynch Road on 12 February 1967, equipped to special-order with the 426 Hemi V-8, TorqueFlite transmission, 4.86:1 rear axle, and 10-inch front brake drums, all as part of the Super Stock package – and all as it is “built” today. The car reportedly has a rich drag-racing history; according to the owner, it was driven by the veteran racers Dick Loehr and Carlton Heine under the fitting name of “Unreal.”

The car was thoroughly restored by Muscle Car Restorations of Wisconsin for muscle car collector Jack Brundage of Kent, Washington, a high-quality job done in the original color scheme of single tone White paint and black interior with a vinyl bench seat, as well as BF Goodrich blackwall tires mounted on steel rims with no hubcaps. Workmanship is superb and the detailing throughout is correct, and the car is accompanied by a dossier of information. Further, the owner believes that the mileage, 367 miles at the time of cataloguing, is the actual original mileage from new.
