As part of the Custom Deluxe V-8 series, the 1951 Ford Country Squire Wagon is a well-respected automobile that is known for being the last of the Ford “woodies” that actually used real wood for the body panels. The all-steel Lifeguard Body utilized mahogany-finished outer panels, trimmed with the choice of real birch or maple. For 1952 the accents would be executed with woodgrain appliques.

With great abilities to stowaway camping gear or luggage for the family vacation, the Country Squire also carries a great deal of wood-trimmed styling that made it an acceptable visitor in any social setting. Whether in jeans or dressing up, you knew you had a very special mode of transportation to your destination.

The passing of years has only re-enforced this affection for the wood-bodied cars. This is a beautifully restored example in the desirable color combination of Culver Blue with a saddle-toned interior that is described as “perfect.” Not only the inside of the vehicle; but in all regard, from the exterior, engine and engine bay, plus the chassis for an outstanding presentation throughout.

The flathead V-8 engine is described as an “optional” 225-cid, 100-hp unit that has been updated with polished and finned Offenhauser heads and is connected to a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. A Walker radiator is also onboard. Among the additional equipment is a Magic Air cabin heater, AM radio, clock, rear-mounted spare tire with hardcover, dual sideview mirrors, wide whitewall tires and factory wheel treatment. The owner’s manual is included with this fun and popularly chosen wagon. This is illustrated by the Country Squire being awarded the Peoples Choice Award at the Woodmeier Classic Car event. This is a finely presented choice of the popular “woodie.”
