The 1955 Ford line was entirely redesigned inside and out. Everything was bigger in comparison to the outgoing 1954 Fords. With the sweeping design changes Ford also chose to release a new model to compete with Chevrolet’s Corvette, the Thunderbird. An immediate hit; the Thunderbird outsold the Corvette 23 to one. The T-Bird was marketed as a personal luxury vehicle, but hints of sportiness could be seen throughout, one of which was the 150-mph speedometer.
This 1955 Ford Thunderbird is presented in red with a two-tone red and white interior. In addition to the soft-top the car comes with a removable fiberglass hardtop. The Thunderbird is powered by a 292-cid, 193-hp V-8 engine paired with an automatic transmission. Driver aids include power seats, steering and brakes. Additional features include fender skirts and wide whitewall tires. The owner claims the car has won over 100 trophies during its timeline; advancing to the age of 61, this is still regarded as a most beautiful design.
