In 1966 The Hertz Corporation offered the Shelby GT350H in their rental lineup. The cars became known as “Rent-A-Racers.” Anyone could simply go to a Hertz rental agency and have a car to take to the drag strip or race track. After Hertz was done with the cars, they were returned to Ford, reconditioned, at which time the cars were then sold to the public.
This 1965 Mustang has been restored as a Shelby GT350 Hertz Tribute. This two-door fastback coupe is presented in black with gold stripes. The car is powered by a Paxton supercharged 500-hp V-8 engine paired to a five-speed manual transmission. The car features a Flowmaster exhaust. The interior is black with Procar front bucket seats with racing seatbelts and features a wood steering wheel with Shelby center cap. Accessory gauges include column mounted tachometer and clock, as well as underdash oil, amp and water gauges. Driver aids include power steering and disc brakes. The owner states the car has all new Shelby suspension components and upgrades.
