The Terlingua Mustang traces its roots back to the 1960s when Carroll Shelby and other young and talented drivers founded the Terlingua Racing Team. The Terlingua name comes from a Texas/Mexico border mining town; the name, it is reported, was revived in 2007 as an offshoot of Shelby American to offer products to “people outside of the mainstream audience for performance auto parts.” Or, as Mr. Shelby stated, “We formed the Shelby Terlingua Racing Team to thumb our nose at the stubborn, old racing establishment, win races and more importantly have fun.”

The 4.0-liter V-6 engine is described as “uprated” and connected to a five-speed automatic transmission, but the mechanical enhancements are unspecified. The car displays a Shelby hood, spoiler, body kit, hood pins and rear window covers. The Mustang has been lowered approximately 1.5-inches and comes with a Terlingua Mustang grille and graphics kit. Additional features include a Ford Racing cold air intake, shifter and strut tower braces along with air conditioning, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, four-wheel disc brakes and power steering. Included is a Carroll Shelby autographed Hot Rod magazine cover that featured Terlingua.
