The Bentley Azure four-seat convertible was built by Bentley Motors Limited in Crewe, England. The model debuted in 1995 on the Continental platform and was produced through 2003. A mere nine examples were produced in its initial year of manufacture. A total of 209 Azures were produced in 1998.
Italian designer and coachbuilder Pininfarina assisted in the two-year process of turning the Continental R into a full four-seat convertible, and also built the shell and soft-top at their factory in Italy. Final assembly was carried out in Crewe. Power came from the company’s 6.75-liter V-8 featuring a single, intercooled Garret turbocharger producing an impressive 385-hp. Power was routed to the rear wheels through a modified, General Motors sourced, four-speed automatic transmission.
A lovely color combination along with fine leathers and burled interior wood trim envelopes you in a safe environment that is made luxurious with many appointments expected of a Bentley of this era. With a 0- to 60-mph time of 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 150-mph, the Azure was fast for a car of its size, weight and profile. The Azure was priced at $347,645 when new.
