The Chevrolet ‘Fleetside’ was America’s most popular pickup in 1971. They offered 16 models on three different wheelbases, three series and two or four-wheel drive.

For 1971, the Cheyenne was Chevrolet’s newest addition to their pickup lineup. Chevrolet advertised that this was the pickup that “you could drive to the Met and hold your head high.” The pickup was rarely thought of in this period with now commonplace amenities. The Cheyenne was offered at extra cost and with it came a full-depth foam bench vinyl seat trimmed in deluxe all-vinyl, the same treatment on the door panels, carpet on the floor, color-keyed headliner in a bright metal frame, dual horns, bright pedal trim, cigar lighter, special insulation and door-operated dome light switches. The exterior included all items in the Custom and Custom Deluxe trims, plus Cheyenne badging, chrome front bumper, cargo compartment light, and on the Fleetside models like the truck on offer, bright lower body side moldings, fuel filler cap and tailgate trim.

This well-cared-for 1971 Cheyenne is presented in red with a black interior and has been with the same owner since new. This one-owner example is powered by a 350-cid, 300-hp V-8 engine and has an automatic transmission. It has its Protect-O-Plate, original dealer’s inspection sheet and the original owner’s manual. It is in original condition and the approximately 86,000 mile odometer reading is reported as actual. An AM/FM radio, factory wheels and white letter tires add to the image that Chevy was setting with the new-for-1971 Cheyenne trim level.
