For the 1960 model year, Chevrolet offered its buyers a variety of cars in a variety of price ranges. At the bottom of the line was the Biscayne Series, the next series was the Bel Air and the top of the line series was the Impala. The Impala was offered in four passenger car body styles and a station wagon. The passenger car body styles included a four-door sedan, a four-door hardtop sports sedan, a convertible and a two-door hardtop sport coupe.

This 1960 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe is fitted with the extremely rare, high performance 348 engine with Tri-power carburetion (three, two-barrel carburetors). This combination boosts the horsepower to 280 as compared to the stock 348 engine, which had a horsepower rating of 250 with a standard four-barrel carburetor.

This vehicle is also equipped with a Powerglide automatic transmission, heater, AM radio with rear speaker, clock, spinner hubcaps, dual sideview mirrors, whitewall tires, bumper guards, fender skirts and deluxe two-toned interior.

The vehicle sports an older cosmetic restoration, which today is in good overall condition. Upon close inspection, the body on this example appears to be in excellent condition showing no signs of damage, abuse, neglect or repair. The panel fit on the doors, decklid and hood are excellent with even margins. The body sills and door jams show no evidence of damage or repair, which is unusual for this model.

The factory correct red and white paint is presentable, but beginning to show its age with overall scratches, chips and oxidation. The factory optional two-toned, hounds-tooth, red and white interior appears to have been replaced and today remains good condition showing only typical signs of wear. The matching carpets, door panels and headliner are in similar condition. The dashboard is complete and proper and the gauges which are in good original condition. The trim on this vehicle is in very good condition although the chrome has some evidence of oxidation and pitting.

The engine bay appears clean and tidy. It is not overly detailed, but very clean and presentable. The chassis is in similar condition and is generally clean, but not detailed. There is no evidence of any damage or repair to any of the chassis components.

Overall, this is a very nice, driver quality example of a very desirable Chevrolet. Its value is enhanced by its high performance, 348-cid, Tri-power engine.
