For 1970, the Chevelle was restyled and the result has been arguably called the boldest looking, mid-sized muscle Chevrolet ever. The Chevelle is well-balanced in handling, braking and comfort.
This Code 17 Shadow Gray with black interior sport coupe is an original V-8 equipped car (denoted with 36 as the second and third numbers of VIN) that has been upgraded with a fearsome LS6 engine.
The brake booster was also replaced with a period-correct type – among other components, including the correct deep-groove pulleys with seven-blade clutch fan – that when you open the hood it looks correct. This also applies to the modern battery having a Delco topper that makes it look correct to the time of initial construction.
Other equipment includes heavy-duty suspension, large diameter sway bars, power front disc brakes, bucket seats along with typical SS options. The LS6 454-cid engine is best remembered for brute force and acceleration: in many ways, it was at the center of the musclecar movement. The frame-off restoration has been recently completed and is ready for further inspection.
