The Charger GLHS followed the success of the Shelby GLHS sedan; it is reported as the second in a series of specially built, specially designed road cars qualified to carry the Shelby nameplate. The car was touted as a “real tour de force” that didn’t get its power from a large V-8. Instead its energy was delivered by a 2.2-liter, 175-hp inline four-cylinder engine that includes multi-port electronic fuel injection, tuned intake manifold, air-to-air intercooler and a specially modified turbocharger.

Keeping pace with more expensive imports was a primary goal of building these cars, and Carroll Shelby knew how to handle competition. A revised suspension system was also engineered into this model. Additional equipment includes a five-speed manual transmission, GLHS cloth interior, hood scoop, rear window louvers, rear side window louvers, GLHS vinyl lettering, dash-mounted tach, sunroof, AM/FM radio, power steering and power brakes.

The owner relays that this Shelby has been upgraded with brand new Bilstein coilovers, a larger turbo, large front-mounted intercooler and the software has been upgraded to raise the turbo boost to 22 pounds.
