Along with the Custom and the Limited; Buick produced the front-wheel drive Skyhawk to be precise, compact and lightweight. They were advertised as being a fun car to drive, so much so that you might actually invent reasons to go places. The T-Type was a car intended for those who enjoy life to the fullest and enjoyed cars to the maximum.

Power for the T-Type was from two different engines, the standard 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder with electronic fuel injection (like in this car) or a turbocharged version with the same displacement. Both were responsive with overhead cam design that provided the requisite power for spirited driving. The manual gearbox helped add to the definite aura of performance. It was available in two body styles; a sleek coupe version and the new-for-1986 three-door hatchback that is represented with this example, which is finished in white with a black and gray interior. Grand Touring suspension, rack-and-pinion steering and factory alloy wheels were part of this surefooted car bearing the T-Type designation. The steering and brakes are both power-assisted, plus there is air conditioning, rear louvers, AM/FM radio and cloth seats.
