Following the Silver Cloud, Rolls-Royce planned for a new name that would properly follow in step. Rolls-Royce had anticipated using the name Silver Mist for the new model, introduced in 1965, but changed “Mist” to “Shadow” after realizing that Mist translated to manure, rubbish or dirt in German. The Silver Shadow was born and saw technical advances over the years. It received several major changes in 1977, most notably the name change to Silver Shadow II, and the change to rack-and-pinion steering. Modifications to the front suspension improved handling markedly.

This opulent Rolls-Royce has been fully refinished on the exterior with a quality paint application. The car now shows having been driven just over 100,000 miles, but due to consistent upkeep and care, it presents as a much lower mile vehicle. The Silver Shadow II was made for only until 1980, but the legendary model remains a sought after and prestigious automobile.
