The Caprice became the new top of the line Chevrolet in 1966, stealing the Impala's luxury image, while the SS was becoming more of an appearance package rather than a performance one. In fact 900 Super Sports were constructed with six cylinder engines! However, Chevy’s mighty big-block was certainly still available to give the Impala much power including the 325 horsepower 396 cubic inch V-8. As seen in this maroon hardtop, the brute was often matched with a four-speed manual transmission for quick shifting fun and performance. This SS also has bucket seats and console, power steering and power brakes, the original AM radio and the full gauge package neatly fitted between the console and dash. It is stated to be a correct block, which only enhances this already desirable full-sized musclecar. Fully restored and detailed in every way, this Impala is prepped and ready for any major show.
