Cadillac customers heading to dealer showrooms in the fall of 1973 to see the new 1974 models were no doubt delighted with what they saw. Attractive styling updates to the front and rear of the cars gave them a fresh, new look. The rear quarter panels were toned down, and if one wanted a bit more distinction, several new Special Edition trim packages were available. It was also the first year for the d’Elegance option such as seen on this particular car.

For the 1974 model year, the DeVille received a special edition called “d’Elegance.” This combination of interior and exterior luxury was available for both Coupe and Sedan DeVille. This new luxury option package featured a new see-through hood ornament and a d’Elegance script just behind the new quarter windows for the 1974 Coupe DeVille. Discreet paint striping also set it apart from the standard Coupe DeVille.

Other signature features for the d’Elegance option package included: deluxe door trim panels, storage pockets in the back of the front seats, and deep pile carpeting with color matched carpeted floor mats. The d’Elegance option was the zenith of Cadillac luxury. Another popular option available for the first time on Coupe DeVille was the exterior Cabriolet half vinyl roof treatment. The 1974 Coupe DeVille Cabriolet with the d’Elegance option was the Cadillac superlative in the “Standard of the World” fashion.

This Cranberry Firemist example has an elegant white leather interior as is the cabriolet roof. The odometer registers 24,720 miles and is well-appointed throughout. Along with running with a 472-cid V-8 engine with automatic transmission; the Cadillac is equipped with factory air conditioning, AM/FM radio, cruise control, woodgrain trim, factory wire wheel covers, whitewall tires; power windows, door locks, seat, antenna, steering and brakes. The paint, interior and chrome are all reported to be in good condition – finely representing this mid-‘70s luxury icon.
